RowZambezi are delighted to announce their partnership with The World Rowing Federation (FISA). This partnership is in support of World Rowing’s clean water initiative, the Kafue River & Rowing Centre (KRRC) where RowZambezi will become an official fundraising partner. The KRRC which is being built in Zambia in a strategic collaboration between World Rowing and the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) will be the site of final stage of RowZambezi, after passing through the swamps and flood plains of the Kafue flats.
Rowing’s relationship with clean water is at the very heart of our sport. This is why the rowing family has united behind our partnership with WWF and now with RowZambezi,” says World Rowing’s Executive Director, Matt Smith.” The KRRC will be a unique and valuable source of knowledge and research -not just for the Kafue area but for the world. The funds we will receive from the 2018 RowZambezi expedition will be a tremendous help as we prepare for the first phase of construction.”
“I am delighted and very proud to be partnering with World Rowing as we embark on this tough but exciting expedition which will be the first of its kind to scull the ecologically important Kafue River and its wetlands,” says Tim Cook, RowZambezi Expedition Leader. “Clean water is crucial to our sport and we hope to inspire athletes and their supporters as we explore this important region of Southern Africa in rowing boats.”
